Pioneer Elementary School is nestled in the Salmon Valley, which is surrounded by the Bitterroot, Sawtooth, and Lemhi mountain ranges. The Salmon river is may be the star of the valley, but here at Pioneer Elementary School, the stars are our students. We work with them every day to see the good in themselves, the good in others, and the good that comes from learning.

Pioneer Elementary School is a preschool through fifth grade school with an enrollment of about 300 students. The staff at Pioneer is comprised of certificated teachers, instructional aides, a secretary, a librarian, a counselor, custodians and maintenance. The average teacher/student ratio is 1:18. Being a small school enables us to really know our students, creating an environment of mutual respect and appreciation.

Pioneer Elementary has a fantastic Parent-Teacher Organization which assists the students and staff by supporting programs which generate a positive atmosphere for learning. Many educational enrichment programs students enjoy are available because of this generous and supportive group.
